Toby/Sam: The Batman and Robin of Speechwriting
Mon, Jul. 13th, 2009 09:09 pm

[info - community] all_it_takes_is_love  and it's Livejournal mirror </a></b></a>it_takes_love  are multifandom fanfiction/fanart/vid communities dedicated to  the positive portrayal of nonconventional families. Conventional families are one man+one woman=there biological kids and nonconventional families is everyone else. So for all those stories about single parents, older parents, same-sex parents, polyamorous families this is place to be.
Specifically this a community for fics and other fannish things that show that a family doesn't have to be normative to be loving.

Hopefully people will at least have it on their radar, because the more fandoms and pairings the better.

And one more ... :)

Title: The River

Rating: R for content: sex, swearwords and suicide. (Toby is Mr. FunTimeHappyGuy.)
Words: c. 4,900
Timeline/Spoilers: Immediately pre- 6.16 'Drought Conditions'.
Disclaimer: I don't claim to be Aaron Sorkin or John Wells. My impressions aren't that good. But my sandbox is more fun to play in.

Just a little last-ditch pimping ...

Title: Five Ways Toby Ziegler and Sam Seaborn Never Fell in Love, part 1: Earth, My Likeness
Author: raedbard
Fandom: TWW
Pairing(s): Toby/Sam. But AU, so not quite themselves.
Wordcount: 4,300
Rating: hard R, warning for student/teacher relationship
Disclaimer: Not Sorkin, not Wells. No money made, promise.
Warnings/Spoilers: AU: Toby is a professor at 'a university', Sam is his student. Not, obviously, set in the main TWW-verse, but era-wise set sometime in the mid-80s. (Also, I've called this 'part 1' but it's really a stand-alone.)
Summary: For an athlete is enamour'd of me, and I of him / But toward him there is something fierce and terrible in me eligible to break forth / I dare not tell it in words, not even in these songs.

Title: In a foreign embrace
Author: scrollgirl
Fandom: The West Wing
Pairing: Toby/Sam
Warnings: AU, NC-17, explicit sex, dubious consent. Liberal use of the f-word. I mean, really really liberal.
Words: ~3,100

Author's Note: I don't really have an explanation for this. raedbard put down Toby/Sam AU fic as an item on her holiday wish-list. I toyed with the fact that Toby and Sam both lived in New York City for years, likely without ever running into each other. What would've happened if they'd met earlier, away from the campaign? Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with a plot. Most of this story is... well, it's sex. It's quite a lot of sex, and stuff leading up to sex, and stuff that comes after sex. There is no plot to redeem this story.

Title from Citizen Ship, a Patti Smith song. Blind alley in New York City, in a foreign embrace. / If you're hungry you're not too particular about what you'll taste.

Sam drifts closer, into the dim unknown. "I'm pretty sure -- I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that the stats you were quoting are out-of-date." He manages to keep his tone fairly light as he speaks, aiming for casual, though who he's fooling at this point is anybody's guess.

The man catches his wrist in a loose grip before Sam even realises that he's reached out to touch him. "That's what you came back here to tell me," he says, sceptical. His thumb is stroking along the vein in Sam's wrist, feeling the pulse-point hammering beneath his thin skin. Sam is dizzy with desire. "That I've got old numbers."

Okay, so I was thinking to myself, "Self (I revert to Joss-speak when troubled), you're supposed to be co-mod of a community, and there's no posts there. What to do?" And as I was pondering this, and simultaneously pondering how my Sam/Toby 5 things meme answers had spiralled into more than a thousand words, suddenly there was an answer. So...

Five Times Sam and Toby almost Kissed

Five ways Toby avoided telling Sam 'I love you'

Five ways Toby would have seduced Sam, if it weren't for their careers

All are links to my journal :-)

*waves* Hi!

This community exists mostly because I was sad that there wasn't one already. Slashing Toby and Sam, the poets of The West Wing, has been one of my favourite things to do for over a year now and I hear tell that there are other people who feel similarly. So I thought it'd be good to have a place to congregate. And this is it. I hope you'll find things you like in here. :)

Community RulesCollapse )

It'd be lovely (but not compulsory) if you could:
1. Introduce yourself
2. Tell us just what it is you love about Toby and Sam (together, apart)
3. Pimp your stuff (fic, icons etc.), if you'd like
in a comment to this entry. :)

But most importantly - have fun, bring us slash and love on the boys! :)
